At the Crossroads of Architecture and Wildfire Operations

One in four Californians live in a high-fire risk area. The environment that many of these homes were built within, is different than it once was. Our climate and our forests, are changing, and our communities must change and adapt with them. We must build resiliency to wildfires and disasters within our communities.

As an architect and CAL FIRE leader for more than 31 years, it is David’s mission to innovate solutions to our wildfire challenges. Throughout his experience, David has gained knowledge of fire science, operational processes and capacities, policy regulations, and steps for mitigation and prevention. He have devoted has life to identifying short and long-term strategies to reduce risk of structure ignitions.

As CAL FIRE Chief of Staff for the Division of Planning and Risk Analysis, David has a wide, working knowledge of the tools and strategies currently implemented by agencies.


Architecture

A trained architect. David’s interdisciplinary skill set in the combination of wildfire and structural design has never been more pertinent.


Wildfire Operations

David began his wildfire career as most do - with one foot in the black. He has risen through the ranks of California’s world-renowned firefighting corp.
